Governor Kathy Hochul Vistited Encore's Aging Through Arts Center

Mar 13, 2025

We had the honor of hosting Governor Kathy Hochul at our Aging Through Arts Center. Our older adult participants and staff had the wonderful opportunity to engage with the Governor on issues directly impacting New York's aging population.

During her visit, our Executive Director, Jeremy Kaplan, expressed gratitude for the $53 million included in the state executive budget to reduce waitlists and more efficiently connect older adults to vital services. By investing in programs that support older New Yorkers, we're enhancing their quality of life and making New York more affordable for families across the state. Encore stands ready to partner with the Governor's office to ensure our older adults can age with dignity, especially as we face national funding threats to critical services like Medicare and Social Security. Today's visit reinforces that New York's elders have strong advocates at all levels of government.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Allison Nickerson from LiveON New York, Commissioner Cortes-Vazquez from the NYC Department for the Aging, and Councilmember Erik Bottcher for joining us in this important conversation.
